Leathercraft Winklmayr Materials

Crafted from the world's fines hides - made to last a lifetime

At Leathercraft Winklmayr, we believe that the quality of our products begins with the exquisite organic materials we use.

The choice of materials reflects our belief that nature has provided materials with a quality and beauty that none of the synthetics can replace. That is why we carefully select the finest resources to create our artisanal leather products. We currently offer a range of leather products made from Nile crocodile, South African ostrich and Italian calf.

We use Nile crocodile skin, one of the most durable and exotic leathers available, making it ideal for creating luxury leather handbags and wallets, among other small leather goods. Our South African ostrich leather is a luxurious material known for its unique quill patterns, which add a touch of sophistication to any product. Italian calf leather is renowned for its softness and durability.

We only use hides that meet our strict standards. We believe that quality leather is a sustainable and long-lasting investment that will age beautifully and last for years.

Crocodile leather:
Crocodile leather is a luxurious material that has been used for centuries to create high-end products, including handbags and accessories. The leather is derived from the skin of crocodiles, which have a distinctive pattern of scales that is highly sought after for its unique aesthetic. Crocodile leather is known for its durability and strength, making it a popular choice for luxury items that are designed to last. The leather is also somewhat water-resistant, adding to its practicality and desirability. Despite its high cost and rarity, crocodile leather remains a popular choice among fashion enthusiasts who appreciate its unparalleled quality and beauty.

Ostrich leather:
Ostrich leather is a popular and luxurious material used in the fashion industry for handbags and accessories. It is known for its unique quill pattern, softness, and durability. Ostrich leather comes from the hides of farmed ostriches, which are mainly raised in South Africa. The leather has a distinctive texture due to the follicles where feathers were once attached, which are preserved during the tanning process. Ostrich leather is a premium material that requires expert craftsmanship to work with and is highly valued by fashion enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Italian calf:
Calfskin is a premium leather known for its softness, durability, and fine grain texture. It is made from the hides of young cows, typically under six months old, which results in a supple and lightweight material. Calfskin is commonly used in the luxury goods industry for handbags, shoes, and accessories due to its versatility and premium quality. It’s resplendent in a wide range of colors, and its natural grain pattern gives it a classic and timeless look. Whilst being delicate, calfskin is still relatively easy to care for, making it a practical and stylish choice for everyday use.
